🐐🐐🐐We love our Toggenburg Goats ❤️❤️❤️

We adopted our Toggys in October and we have fallen in love with them.

Originally from Switzerland and typically a dairy goat, our lovely Toggys are just pets but they earn their keep giving lots of lovely cuddles and selfies to our guests.

Monty and Waffle are our lively boys and Heidi is our female goat who was born without a womb so she can live with the boys without any little surprises arriving!

Monty, Heidi and Waffle have lived together for the last 7 years and are believed to be about 7 or 8 years old.

After a very long week of snow, ice and wind the donkeys are pleased to have some sunshine today!

The snow has melted and the sun has been shining this afternoon, both Donks were sunbathing in the door or the toggenburg shed!

Mocha likes to sleep standing up and Burrito likes lying down - they are totally different little donkeys but both love the sunshine ☀️

E G G H U N T!!! This one almost ended one disaster....😱

Our girls like to keep us on our toes by laying eggs wherever they please. Sometimes it takes me 20 minutes to find the 'laying spot' for the day...and other days we will stumble across a massive group of eggs we have missed in the last week. Either way we are very lucky to have such wonderful girls who are still laying even in -10 degrees.

Our Rhode Island red chickens come from @britishhenwelfaretrust and are all rescues from battery farms.

These girls started off life in a pretty unpleasant way but now have total freedom to roam anywhere they like and take the expression 'free range' to a whole new level ❤️🤣

All our glamping and cottage guests and farm tour visitors get the opportunity to meet these lovely ladies, hand feed and have cuddles.

It really is a winter wonderland at Tomnauld Farm at the moment...the animals are not quite sure what to make of the -8 we woke up to this morning! ❄️🥶🌬️

However we have opened the gates and they are all cuddling up together to keep warm.

There was a near miss with a donkey laying down and almost squashing a chicken...but after a head count and a quick dash from Doris all the chickens are accounted for 🫣🤣😅

Little Dooney may be small in stature but at the ripe old age of (roughly) 34 he is made of tough stuff! 💪🐴💪

These miniature ponies hale from the Shetland isles where the weather is extreme and winters can be long and harsh.🥶⛄🥶

The islands have little to no trees or natural shelter so the ponies tend to turn their bums into the wind and put their head down to avoid strong winds face on.🌲❄️🌬️

These are the Mike Tyson's of ponies and are such little characters - we love our little adopted Dooney 💗

Our animals are keeping warm through this cold snap.

Plenty of feed, warm water buckets and extra cuddles ensure they are as comfy as can be.

The chickens are taking up residence in our feed shed and nestling into the giant round hay bale during the day and avoiding the snow at all costs!

SNOW DAY! 🥶⛄🌄

We are used to a bit of snow up here at Tomnauld Farm. Sitting 250m up on the beautiful hillside we are above the snow line in Scotland. If there's snow somewhere in Scotland - we get it too 🤣

However this means we are well versed in prepping water buckets, managing extra feed and keeping a close eye on all the animals in the cold temperatures.

We are also pretty great at Sledging too 🛷🫣👍

We hope everyone is keeping warm as temperatures plummet this week.

Very sadly we have had to close the site today due to Storm Floris. We are in an amber alert area and expected to see winds of up to 90mph.

Safety, comfort and enjoyment is paramount for our guests and while we are sad to close, we know it is the right decision.

Lots of our guests ask us what the place was like when we arrived - well here is a snapshot of some of the work we have done over the last 4 years to get the site to where it is now.
