Food - Top Local Tips
1. NAE LIMITS CAFE - Tomnauld's Top Secret Pick!
Simply the best breakfast around! No Joke!
2. THE AULD SMIDDY wins best restaurant in Pitlochry!
Beautiful white building. Famed for steaks and live music.
Nice beer garden.
3. CRAFT DINER - is possibly the best burger in Scotland!
Don't be put off by the in the woods open plan set up.
Akrum should go for a Michelin Star, we think it's that good!
4. THE TAY BANK Dunkeld or The GRANTULLY HOTEL Strathtay - both are bangers for the finer end of the spectrum
for that something a little special. Taybank has a brilliant by the river summer beer garden too.
5. THE MOULIN INN is a brilliant family option
2 minutes above Pitlochry. Great prices, good portions, beer garden and ales.
6. AILEAN CHRAGAN Aberfeldy - beer garden for kids
Lovely drive over from Pitlochry, really nice country independent pub with a beer garden, climbing frame, slide and swings.

Rainy Day Options
“I hate all those weathermen, too, who tell you that rain is bad weather. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy raincoat and live a little.” Billy Connelly

Small Walks
"All times vary depending on how much your little explorer insists on inspecting every rock, puddle, and slightly interesting twig along the way."

1. Pitlochry Wobbly Bridge, Salmon Ladder, Hydro Dam & 100 steps walk. (30minutes)
Park at the Recreation Ground Car Park, walk to the river, cross the wobbly bridge, pass the theatre, up the Salmon ladder, across the Dam, coffee and cake in the cafe overlooking the dam, back down to the car park via 100 steps trail, finish off with a play in the park.

2. Faskally Woods - Loch Dunmore Walk (30minutes)
Drive out through Pitlochry to Blair Athol and turn left into Faskally Woods (B8019 5min drive), park up, go for a lap of the Loch
(Really a large pond). You will not regret going, this is possibly the most beautiful and enchanting forest and loch walk in Scotland. See it to believe it.

3. The Hermitage Forest - Dunkeld (30minutes)
Famous for tall trees, waterfalls and old stone structures. There's a magic to this place, hence why it's so popular. It's very busy at weekends, quiet mid-week.

Longer Dog Walks

1. Pine Cone Point - Dunkeld (1 hour Walk)
Park at The Hermitage, walk through the forest and walk up to the view point called Pinecone Point. Decent uphill forest trail that starts and ends with a river and a waterfall. The view at the top is worth it. Pop into The Craft Burger on your way home to refuel.
2. Killicrankie Trail - Pitlochry (1 to 2 hours Walk)
Our favourite big walk as it takes both the small local walks noted above plus a lovely river side forest trail. Park in the rec car park in Pitlochry and follow the route over the wobbly bridge, up the Salmon Ladder, over the Hydro Dam, but instead of turning right to the cafe, turn left and follow the Killicrankie path through the forest with the river/loch always on your immediate left, follow the trail all the way to Loch Dunmore, do a loop, be amazed, follow the path back to Pitlochry along the river the way you came. Grab a pint in The Auld Smiddy as a reward.
3. Local Hidden Gem - Atholl Palace Bluebell Woods Walk
Start your walk at Atholl Palace, parking at the hotel and finding the trail behind it on the left-hand side. Follow a long, straight path through towering pine trees, then loop down to the river and return along the scenic river path. It’s like a mini Hermitage, with majestic trees so stunning we almost didn’t want to share this secret!
End your walk with a pint at the Stag Inn (Atholl Palace Hotel) if you're feeling fancy, or head to The Moulin Inn for a well-priced, excellent local pint.
